I grew up with no locked doors
I didn’t learn how to be brave
I learned how to disappear (shhh)
Silence feels safer than tears
I learned how to live with heavy thoughts
They ask me why I’m like this now
But I grew up in the damage and it never went away
Every word felt like a test
I wasn’t taught how to feel safe
I was taught how not to cry (mmmmm)
I didn’t learn how to be strong
I learned how not to need
I didn’t break
I was hurting
I grew up thinking consent was an excuse
I was a kid
when they took my dignity
I swallowed my pain
I stopped tinking things would change
They say to lie down
and take it
I’m not broken… I was raised where nothing felt safe I didn’t
break
I broke slowly
Every word felt like a test I didn’t choose
this life I’m not dramatic
I’m just honest I grew up learning how to stay
alive (ahhhh)
