Whoa-oh!
Yeah!
I see her every morning walking down my street.
She always looks like she’s got somewhere she’s supposed to be.
I try to say hello,
but somehow miss my chance.
Then she turns around and smiles,
and I forget my plans.
I’ve been thinking about her more than I should admit.
Every time I get close,
I don’t know what to say.
My friends say, “Just ask her.” I say,
“Maybe tonight.” Then she turns around and says,
“Are you free Friday night?”
FRIDAY AT EIGHT! I’LL BE WAITING FOR YOU.
FRIDAY AT EIGHT! I DON’T KNOW WHAT I’LL DO.
I’VE BEEN TRYING TO FIND THE RIGHT WORDS TO SAY,
BUT WHEN YOU’RE STANDING NEXT TO ME,
THEY ALL GET AWAY.
FRIDAY
AT EIGHT! YEAH, I’LL SEE YOU THERE.
FRIDAY
AT EIGHT! I CAN’T BELIEVE YOU CARE.
WHOA-OH!
I THINK I’M FINALLY GETTING MY CHANCE TONIGHT.
I changed my shirt three times,
then changed it back again. I
told myself to calm down,
but I’m nervous as hell.
I got there way too early,
just standing by the door.
Then she walked in smiling and I forgot what I came for.
She said, “You look nervous.” I said,
“I’m doing fine.” She laughed and said,
“Good, because I’m nervous too.”
Now we’re walking down the sidewalk,
talking about our lives.
And for once I don’t care if I say the wrong thing
tonight.
Maybe I was overthinking
every little thing. Maybe all I ever needed
was the nerve to say,
“Hey…”
She smiled. I smiled.
And somehow
that was enough. ONE NIGHT!
ONE CHANCE! ONE LITTLE HELLO!
FRIDAY AT EIGHT! NOW I’M GLAD I’M HERE.
FRIDAY AT EIGHT! I DON’T HAVE TO DISAPPEAR.
I SPENT SO LONG WONDERING WHAT YOU’D SAY,
NOW I’M WALKING RIGHT BESIDE YOU AND I DON’T WANT THIS TO
CHANGE. FRIDAY AT EIGHT!
YEAH, I’LL SEE YOU THERE.
FRIDAY AT EIGHT! I CAN’T BELIEVE YOU CARE.
WHOA-OH! I THINK I’M FINALLY GETTING MY CHANCE TONIGHT.
FRIDAY AT EIGHT! FRIDAY AT EIGHT!
I’LL SEE YOU THERE!
FRIDAY AT EIGHT! FRIDAY AT EIGHT!
I KNOW YOU CARE!
WHOA-OH! FRIDAY AT EIGHT!
WHOA-OH! DON’T LET THIS NIGHT END!
Whoa-oh!
Friday at eight!
Maybe I’ll see you tomorrow.
Maybe I’ll see you Friday.
Either way… I’m glad I said hello.
