    kilted last cut

    Ray Rosher|1

Oh, I'm Ray the Kilted Mechanic,

And I've fixed a thousand things,

From broken Briggs and Kohlers To the trouble old age brings.

I've brought dead mowers back to life,

    Made tired engines sing,

    But there's one machine I couldn't keep,

    And I'd give most anything.

She was yellow as the morning sun,

With a deck beneath her frame,

    Cub Cadet was written proudly,

And I loved that little name.

Oh, Cub Cadet, where are you tonight?

I miss your yellow body in the early morning light.

    Your seat is gone,

    your tracks have faded,

    No engine can replace it,

For Ray the Kilted Mechanic Still remembers his Cub Cadet.

    I remember summer mornings,

With the sunlight on the grass,

I'd turn the key and hear her wake,

    Then watch the garden pass.

Round the trees and down the fence,

    Across the lawn we'd ride,

A kilted man upon his mower,

    With his yellow faithful pride.

I changed her oil and filters,

Kept her blades both sharp and true,

Greased the spindles, checked the belts,

That's what a good man ought to do.

    But nothing lasts forever,

    Even steel must say goodbye,

And the day she left my workshop,

There was something in my eye.

Now another mower waits for me,

Another engine roars, But I still look for that flash of yellow

    Coming through the workshop doors.

But give me one more summer day,

One field of grass to cut,

My Cub Cadet beneath me And my old toolbox in the hut.

    Oh, Cub Cadet,

    where are you tonight?

I miss your yellow body in the early morning light.

    I've got my spanners,

    I've got my tools,

    And every trick I've learned,

But there's no tool in my toolbox That can bring the past

    returned. Oh, Cub Cadet,

my bonnie machine, The finest yellow mower That this kilted man's ever

    seen.

    Spark...

    Fuel...

    Compression...

That's how I fix most anything.

But there's no test for missing

    An old

    and trusted friend.

    OH, CUB CADET,

    WHERE ARE YOU TONIGHT?

I MISS THAT YELLOW MOWER AND THE WAY YOU RAN JUST RIGHT!

    From Gravely to Deere,

They may come and they may go,

But there's one old Cub Cadet That this mechanic won't let go.

    Oh, Cub Cadet,

my bonnie machine, The finest wee mower That Ray has ever seen!

    And though you're gone,

    One thing stays true...

    THE KILTED MECHANIC

    STILL REMEMBERS YOU!

    Goodbye, old girl...

    You cut a fine lawn.
