When Cash Was Royal YO WHAT

    RIVAL THEORY

    (hummmm) "This is called...

    a wallet." (ha)

    "They carried that?"

    Oh, we're doing this today.

Little leather rectangle, Cards stuffed inside,

    Pictures of the family,

    Receipt from '25.

    Apparently you carried money

    Printed on a sheet,

Then handed it to strangers When you wanted something to eat.

    Cash. Actual paper.

    With numbers on it.

    Very advanced civilization.

    Keys in the pocket.

    Password in your head.

Paper ticket saying Where you're supposed to sit.

Somebody asks: "What happened if you lost it?"

    Exactly.

    Nobody remembers cash!

    Nobody carries keys!

Nobody types a password Just to prove who they might be!

    Wallet in a museum,

Old lock behind the glass— Whole room staring at twenty dollars like:

"PEOPLE USED TO CALL THIS CASH?"

Told 'em restaurants brought a check

And put it on the table.

You'd pull a little plastic card

And hope the thing was able— To talk to another machine,

Then wait for it to say

    Whether your own fucking money

    Was available that day.

Kid raises his hand: "Why didn't the restaurant know?"

    Listen...

    We were doing our best.

    Nobody remembers cash! Tickets disappeared!

Nobody carries twelve damn things Just to leave the house from here!

    No wallet! No key ring!

    No PIN somebody forgot!

Try explaining "reset password" TO A KID FROM 2070.

    Coins. Checks.

Signatures. Parking meters. Paper boarding passes.

    Twenty different chargers.

    "What's a charger?" (ahhh) Oh,

    fuck you.

    Guide holds up an

old key. "This opened your house." Kid

says: "So anybody holding it could open your house?" (hahaha) Well...

When you say it like that— that does sound fucking insane.

NOBODY REMEMBERS CASH! Let the future laugh at everything We thought would

    never die! Wallets!

    Keys! Passwords!

    Tickets! All became the past!

And somewhere in a museum There's a sign that simply asks:

"WHY DID THEY NEED ALL THIS SHIT?"

    Museum gift shop:

    "Cash not accepted."

    Of course.
