Green Light

I kept it buried underneath my skin,

A thousand words I wouldn’t let begin.

I wore a smile like a warning sign,

While I was dying behind my eyes.

But tonight… I think I’ll let you in.

I’ve been driving through the dead of night,

Hands on the wheel,

nowhere in sight.

Every thought is a red light burning,

Every road just keeps returning.

I’ve been choking on the things I hide,

Building walls I can’t climb inside.

But there’s a voice beneath the noise,

Saying, “You don’t have to fight alone.”

So I’ll open my mouth,

Let the silence break,

Even if my voice Starts to shake.

If somebody hears me,

Maybe they’ll understand… Maybe reaching out Is where healing

begins.

GREEN LIGHT!

I can finally breathe again,

GREEN LIGHT!

Let the words escape my head.

I was waiting for a sign,

Waiting for the world to change,

But the light was always there— I just couldn’t see it through

the rain. GREEN LIGHT!

I’m not afraid to say I’m not okay.

GREEN LIGHT! I’m choosing life another day.

One conversation, one hand to hold,

Can turn a broken heart to gold.

The road is open—

And I’m on my way.

There’s no weakness in a tear that falls,

No shame in admitting when you’re lost.

We’re all carrying invisible scars,

Trying to navigate these empty roads.

And maybe someone needs to hear The words I was too scared

to speak. “I know it hurts.

I’ve been there too.

You don’t have to hide from me.” So I’ll open my mouth,

Let the silence break,

Even if my voice

Starts to shake. Because keeping it inside Nearly took everything from me.

Now I’m learning how to live,

Not just survive.
