New Jerusalem Rising

John sees a new heaven and a new earth,

For the first heaven and the first earth passed away,

devoid of mirth.

There is no more sea,

symbolizing chaos and separation ceased,

A complete renewal, a promise of perfect peace released.

God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes,

There shall be no more death,

sorrow, crying, or pain despised;

For the former things have passed away,

In God’s eternal presence,

joy and life hold sway.

He upon the throne declares,

“Behold, I make all things new,”

These words faithful and true,

encompassing creation's view.

“It is done. I am Alpha

and Omega, the beginning and the end,

To him that thirsts,

will I give freely

of the fountain of life's

river,

without spend.

Loving God, fill our hearts with hope

And comfort us

with Your eternal presence,
