  • Babylon’s Last Hour

    Babylon’s Last Hour

    pure HI|1

    Oh, Babylon...

The chapter begins with a mighty angel descending,

his glory lighting up the earth,

Crying out with a strong voice,

    proclaiming Babylon’s fallen birth:

    “Babylon the great is fallen,

is fallen, and is become the habitation of devils,

The hold of every foul spirit,

and cage of birds and evil revels.”

All nations have drunk of her fornication’s wrathful wine,

Kings of the earth committed with her,

merchants grew rich with her line.

    A voice from heaven commands,

    “Come out of her,

my people, That ye be not partakers of her sins,

nor receive her plagues as steeple.”

    Come out of her!

(Come out!) Lest ye receive of her plagues!

Her sins have reached unto heaven,

    And judgment draws near!

    Her sins reach unto heaven,

and God has remembered her iniquities severe; To repay her double for

her works, as judgment draws near.

In her heart, she glorifies herself,

    saying, “I sit a queen,

untouched by sorrow;” Yet her plagues come in one day,

death, mourning, famine, her destruction to follow.

    The kings, the merchants,

    they weep and mourn,

Standing afar, their glory is torn!

(Alas, Babylon!) In one swift hour,

    thy riches laid waste,

    All of thy grandeur,

    forever

    erased!

Sovereign Lord, as we reflect upon the fall,

We seek Your guidance to stand apart from it all.

    Help us remain pure,

    finding refuge in Your truth,

Keep our eyes fixed on Your eternal kingdom.

    Amen.
