Bowl of Wrath

(yeah) (turn it up now)

The first angel pours his bowl upon the earth,

where grievous sores inflict,

Those branded with the mark of the beast,

experiencing affliction’s strict. The second angel empties his bowl into the sea,

causing it to turn like blood,

Every living soul within the sea perishes in the ensuing flood.

(ohhhhh, yeah) Judgment is coming,

the waters turn to red

(turn to red!)

The third angel pours his vial,

turning rivers and springs to blood alike,

Judgment for the shedding of saints and prophets,

a righteous strike. The angel of the waters affirms,

“Thou art righteous, O Lord,” in their plight,

Acknowledging holy judgments and God’s enduring might.

The fourth angel casts his bowl upon the sun,

intensifying its flames, Scorching men with great heat,

yet they blaspheme God’s wondrous names.

Repentance eludes them, even as suffering prevails; they choose to curse,

Remaining stiff-necked against divine mercy,

neglectful of reversals or disperse.

The fifth angel pours his bowl upon the beast's throne,

casting darkness' dread, His kingdom full of darkness,

causing agony and fear widespread.

Yet men refuse to repent or cease their blasphemous ways,

even in anguish, An example of the hardened heart,

its rebellion refuses to languish.

The sixth angel empties his bowl on the Euphrates River,

drying it up entirely,

Preparing the way for kings of the east,

setting the scene for conflict direly.

Unclean spirits like frogs emerge,

performing wonders, deceiving leaders blind,

Gathering forces for Armageddon,

in opposition aligned.

The seventh angel finally pours his vial into the air with a

majestic decree:

“It is done," announces the powerful voice from the temple,

ultimately free. Voices, thunders,

and lightnings occur, a great earthquake follows,

The grand city splits,

islands move, mountains disappear to hollows.

Great hailstones fall from heaven,

each weighing a talent,

in their path swing,

Men continue blaspheming God for the plague of hail,

Unrepentant, continuing to cling.

Gracious Almighty, help us to perceive Your righteous judgment.
