    Proverbs on the Beat

    pure HI|1

    (yeah, check it)

    Honour for a fool,

    like snow in summer,

    Or rain in harvest,

    it's an ill-timed bummer.

    A curse undeserved won't find a place,

    Like a bird in flight,

    it has no space.

    A whip for the horse,

    a bridle for the ass,

    A rod for the fool,

letting folly pass. Answer not a fool in foolish flair,

Or you'll be like him in despair.

Answer a fool as his folly may,

Lest he be wise in his own way.

    Sending a message through a fool’s plan,

    Is like cutting off feet,

    or drinking bland. (oh yeah,

    listen now) The

lame walk awkward in parable’s might,

Just as proverbs fail in a fool’s sight.

Binding a stone in a sling is no good,

So is giving honour where none should.

A thorn in a drunkard’s hand that sticks,

Is a proverb in the mouth of the wicked’s tricks.

An archer who wounds every passer-by,

Is one who hires fools on the sly.

As a dog returns to its vomit vile,

A fool repeats folly without guile.

There's more hope for them in a fool’s tide,

Than one who’s wise in their own pride.

The sluggard says, "A lion’s in the path,

In the streets, a lion waits in wrath." As a door turns

    on its hinges in flow,

So does a sluggard on the bed slow.

The sluggard buries a hand in the dish,

Too lazy to bring back a dinner wish.

The sluggard's wiser in his daydream futures,

Than seven men with noble ventures.

Snatching a dog by the ears,

watch out, Is like meddling in strife that's not about.

A madman’s flames, arrows in tote,

    Are frivolous deceits he’ll dote.

Without wood, the fire fades away,

    And where there's no gossip,

    strife won't stay.

Charcoal for embers, hot coals underneath,

    A quarrelsome man stirs up,

like a thief. (gossip tastes so sweet,

yeah) The words of a gossip taste so sweet,

They go down, making the inner parts meet.

    Like glaze on earthenware,

hearts that guise, Lips that burn a heart with lies.

A wicked man speaks friendly with masks,

    But in his heart,

evil tasks. When his voice is sweet and sincere,

Don’t trust, for seven abominations near.

Though hatred is covered by guile’s guile,

His wickedness will show in a while.

He who digs a pit will fall in its brink,

And a stone rolls back on the one who drinks.

A lying tongue loves the trouble they sprout,

A flattering mouth will bring ruin about.

Lord Jesus, You are the ultimate wisdom beyond our own understanding.

Guide us away from folly and teach us to recognize the traps

    of pride and laziness.

May our words and actions glorify You,

and let us seek Your truth that guards us from lies and

    deceit.

Help us walk in paths that reflect Your righteousness,

step by step in Your saving grace.

    Amen.

    (Amen,

    amen)
