    Kingdom Rhymes

    pure HI|1

    Yeah (oooh-yeah)

These are wise proverbs that Solomon wrote,

Hezekiah’s men brought them to note.

    God’s glory’s to conceal a thing’s story,

    A king searches out,

    finds out the glory.

Heaven’s height and earth’s deep expanse,

    And a king’s heart,

who can understand? Remove the dross from the silver brace,

And a vessel emerges for the refiner’s place.

Take wickedness from a king’s domain,

And justice through his throne will reign.

Don't be too quick to leave your place,

Stand not in haste before the king’s grace.

Better humble, told “come up here,”

    Than lowered presence, shamed,

unclear. Argue your case with your neighbour forthright,

Don’t reveal secrets to bring their plight.

(Ooooh, a word aptly spoken gleams so bright!) Like golden apples in

silver light! (Yeah, pristine and clear!) Like gold adornment,

    pristine and clear!

Lest he who hears puts you to shame,

Your bad report spreads far and gains.

A faithful messenger refreshes the king,

    Like snow in harvest,

    good news does bring.

Clouds and wind with no rain to bestow,

A boasting man with gifts no show.

Patience and gentleness break down a wall,

    Soft words cut through,

    tensions they fall.

Honey’s sweet, eat just enough for thee,

Overindulgence brings misery. Set foot too much in your neighbour’s gate,

    And you’ll be despised,

it’s bitter fate. A false witness cuts like a club,

    Sharp sword, and arrow,

hitting hub. Trusting a traitor in troubled spell,

    Bad tooth, and foot unsteady,

    as well.

(A song for one's heavy hearted load) Is vinegar on soda,

    ill-told (Ill-told!)

Enemies are hungry, give bread to eat

    Thirsty?

    Give water, let good repeat

Heap coals of fire upon their dome,

    And the Lord will reward,

bring them home. North wind drives rain,

a quarrelsome see, Strife on a roof,

    instead of harmony.

Good news from a distant land,

Like cool drink from a weary hand.

    But compromising in righteous art,

    Is a tainted spring,

muddied heart. Too much honey proves not good ground,

    Seeking your own honour,

    trouble’s found.

    A city broken, without control,

A man with no restraint in his soul.

Lord Jesus, You are the King of Kings whose wisdom surpasses all

    understanding.

    We come to Your throne,

seeking to embody the virtues and wisdom laid out in Your Word.

    Help us to be humble,

    to speak truth in gentleness,

and to show kindness to those who may oppose us.

In Your grace, refine us like silver until we reflect Your glory.

May our hearts be steadfastly ruled by Your love,

and may we drink deeply from the streams of Your salvation.

    Amen.
