(yeah, yeah,
check it)
(ooooh, oh
yeah)
The lonely man pursues his own path,
Against all wisdom, ignites his wrath.
Fools find no joy in understanding light,
Only in expressing their own insight.
When wickedness comes, contempt’s near,
With dishonour comes disgrace to fear.
Words from a man's mouth,
deep water flow, Wise words are a bubbling brook's show.
(Ooooh,
yeah)
The Lord's name is a strong,
safe tower,
Righteous run in, they're safe every hour.
(safe every hour)
It’s not good to favour the wicked's place,
Denying the righteous justice’s space.
A fool's lips bring him into cost,
His mouth invites ruin,
he gets lost. The words of a whisperer,
delicate and sly, They go deep inside,
where secrets lie. A lazy person’s work is dire,
Brother to the destructive fire.
Riches imagined as a fortified town,
A high wall in dreams,
but it can’t keep him sound.
A proud heart before destruction’s seen,
Humility paves the way to intervene.
Answer before listening brings him shame,
A fool exposed in his own game.
A man's spirit can endure ail and pain,
But a crushed spirit,
who can remain?
An intelligent heart acquires knowledge’s view,
Ears of the wise seek understanding’s due.
A gift from a person opens the way,
Bringing them before the great every day.
(bring 'em before the great,
yeah) First to plead seems right in sight,
Until another comes and examines with might.
Casting lots settles struggles at hand,
Divides between mighty men in the land.
A brother wronged is a fortified city’s shore,
Contentions like bars on a tower’s door.
A man's stomach filled with his words’ flair,
Satisfied with the harvest he bears.
Death and life are in the tongue’s power,
The lovers of it eat its fruit by the hour.
Finds a wife finds a good thing's share,
Obtaining favour from the Lord’s care.
The poor are entreating in their tune,
While the rich use harsh words to impugn.
A friend loves closer than a brother's name,
Sticks through times of joy and shame.
Lord Jesus, You are our strong tower and refuge.
We bring our hearts and words to You.
Guide us toward the salvation found in You.
(Amen, amen)
