A wise son heeds instruction’s call,
But a scoffer hears with no cause at all.
A man shall eat by the fruit of his mouth,
But the treacherous crave violence,
heading south.
He that guards his lips preserves his life,
Talking rashly cuts like a knife.
The sluggard's soul craves,
yet has nothing inside,
While the diligent soul is richly supplied.
A righteous light brings joy to the soul,
While the lamp of the wicked gets no toll.
Pride breeds contention without insight,
Wisdom is with the well-advised in flight.
Gained wealth quickly will surely wane,
But gathered steady, grows steady gain.
Hope deferred
makes the heart sick,
A desire fulfilled is joy's quick pick.
Good understanding wins favour fair,
While hard ways of the wicked aren't rare.
Every prudent man
acts with knowledge, Fools flaunt folly,
needing college.
Walk with the wise,
become wise truly,
Companion of fools meets harm
unduly. The righteous feed till there’s no lack,
While the wicked fall back in lack.
Dear Jesus,
thank You for the wisdom of Your Word.
Let our lives reflect Your righteousness
as we lean on Your grace and salvation.
Amen.
