Wisdom’s Dignity

(hummmmm) Who loves correction loves knowledge,

they say,

Rejecting reproof is senseless dismay.

The good man finds favour from the Lord,

But wicked schemes won’t be ignored.

A man’s firm root cannot be shaken,

But oppressors find themselves forsaken.

A virtuous wife is crown and grace,

But shameful ones

cause disgrace.

The thoughts of the righteous are just and sound,

But the counsel of the wicked will confound. (ooh-yeah)

Words of the wicked lie in wait to spill,

But the mouth of the upright brings good will.

The wicked are overthrown and swept away,

But the house of the righteous will stay.

A man praised for wisdom conceals his might,

While twisted hearts display their plight.

Better to be lowly with servitude neat,

Than to pretend rich while having no meat.

A righteous man cares for animals,

indeed, But wicked mercy is cruel in its deed.

He who tills land will have bread to spare,

Foolish pursuits

will lead nowhere.

The wicked covet a trap that’s vile,

The upright bear fruit,

a wholesome style.

Evil ensnares the wicked in their plight,

But the righteous find a rescue light.

Lord Jesus,

You are the truth,

the way, and the life,

Teach us to seek understanding

and embrace Your righteous path.

Forgive our sins, May Your truth guide us.
