  • Liars’ Honey, Bitter End

    Liars’ Honey, Bitter End

    pure HI|1

(mmmmm) My son, heed my wisdom,

incline your ear, To understand and steer clear of deceit near.

Discretion will guard your lips and tongue,

From strange lips where sweet words are sung.

    Her words drip as honey,

feel so smooth, But her end is bitter,

    swords that move.

Her feet go down to death's domain,

    Her steps cannot wisdom sustain.

She considers not the way of her path,

Her ways unstable, steering into wrath.

    (steering into wrath)

    Attend to me now,

    sons, obey my song,

Keep away from her seductive throng.

    Far from her door,

your honour preserve, Lest years of hard toil twist and curve.

Lest strangers fill with your strength,

    Lest your labours to another,

at length. And you mourn at last,

    body wasted, Amidst sorrow,

    life's honour tasted.

    You’ll say, “How I hated instruction’s guide,

And my heart despised correction wide." I didn’t obey my teacher's voice,

Nor inclined my ear to wisdom's choice."

Drink water from your own pure well,

    From your own fresh springs,

    with dangers quell.

Pour your waters in the broad places free,

Let your springs be yours exclusively.

    May your fountain be blessed,

behold, rejoice, In the wife of your youth,

    make her your choice.

A loving deer, graceful in her stance,

    Filled with her love,

forever trance. Why be captured by a wayward embrace?

For the Lord sees all man's pace.

His ways are before the Lord’s keen eyes,

Examines all his deeds and cries.

    His own iniquities trap him,

he falls, With cords of sin and folly,

he calls. He dies due to the lack of right,

    Led astray by folly's flight.

The end path is unwittingly tight,

Bound by lust, devoid of light.

Heavenly Father, Proverbs shows us the destructive path of sin.

Through Jesus Christ, we find salvation from these snares.

Lord, guide us in purity and faithfulness,

reflecting grace. May we turn away from sin and embrace righteousness.

    In His holy name,

    Amen.
