Wisdom Wrapped in Sound

My child, don't forget what I say,

Keep my commands in your heart always.

Length of days, years of life,

a peaceful way, Let mercy and truth hold their sway.

Bind them 'round your neck,

in heart engrave, Favour and understanding's path you'll pave.

Trust the Lord with all your might,

Lean not on your wisdom's sight.

In all your ways acknowledge His part,

And straight will be the path of your heart.

Be not wise in your own eyes,

Fear the Lord, evil despise.

Health to your flesh,

marrow to your bone,

Honour the Lord with all your own.

First fruits give from your increase,

Your barns filled, your vats won't cease.

Do not despise the Lord's reproof,

His correction brings truth,

a solid roof. For whom He loves,

He does chastise, As a father loves,

His child takes to the skies.

Happy is the man who finds wisdom's embrace,

Understanding's gift, in her glory's place.

Her profit's more valuable than silver or gold,

Rubies can't compare to her worth untold.

Length of days in her right hand reside,

Riches and honour on her left abide.

Her ways are pleasant,

paths of peace, A tree of life,

her joys don't cease.

By wisdom, the Lord laid the earth's foundation,

Understanding set the heavens' rotation.

Knowledge sprung

gushing streams, From His mouth,

the world's dreams. Preserve sound wisdom and discretion's way,

They are life to your soul every day.

Walk in safety, your foot won't stumble,

Lie down, sleep sweet,

fear won't rumble. The Lord is your confidence,

firm and strong, Keep your foot from the snare,

from doing wrong. Don't withhold good when you've the power,

Do right by others in every hour.

Don’t envy the oppressor,

with fury’s push, For the Lord detests the perverse,

like a hush. Bless the just in His loving care,

With grace, humility, riches beyond compare.

Gracious Father, from back in the Torah Book Leviticus which pointed towards

Your perfect holiness,

give us the wisdom and revelation here so,

we see the holy standards You declared,

fulfilled in

Jesus, the blameless sacrifice.

In Christ,

we find the perfect harmony of love and justice.

We acknowledge our need for our Saviour

and bow before You,

healed by His wounds and reconciled.

May our lives reflect His sacrifice as we walk in Your ways.
