(hahaha) (oh boy)
My pockets were bulging,
my prospects were grand
The finest young dandy in all of the land But then came
sweet Sally, with eyes like a spark And now I am sleeping
right here in the park (ahhhh)
Then Clara came calling,
with ribbons and bows She wanted a diamond,
she wanted a rose I bought her a carriage,
a hat from Paris
And now there is nothing but pennies for me (hohoho)
Oh, the ladies, the ladies,
they take all my dough!
They smile so sweet and they put on a show!
From Tuesday to Sunday I'm flat on my back
With nothing but holes in my old carpet sack! (yee-haw)
Miss Mabel was lovely,
Miss Mabel was tall She took me to dinner and ordered it
all Three bottles of bubbly,
a mountain of ham
And now I don't even know who that I am!
Oh, the ladies, the ladies,
they take all my dough!
They smile so sweet and they put on a show!
From Tuesday to Sunday I'm flat on my back
With nothing but holes in my old carpet sack!
So if you meet a gal with a wink in her eye
Just button your pocket and tell her goodbye! (whew)
(broke again!)
