(yeah,
listen up)
Yo, it’s King Nebuchadnezzar,
got a story to share,
A dream that shook me,
couldn’t find no repair.
I called all the wise men,
my magicians and seers,
Said, “Come interpret, relieve all my fears!”
But they couldn’t break the code,
not a single one,
So Daniel, the beloved,
was the only one.
He came with the Spirit’s power,
full of insight, Told me my dream,
shining like the light.
(shining so bright, yeah) I saw a great tree,
tall and wide, Reaching to heaven,
in it I’d abide.
Its leaves so grand,
giving food to all,
But a watcher came down,
a warning to call.
“Chop it down, let its branches fall,
Let its fruit be scattered,
hear the decree’s call.
But leave the stump,
bound in the earth,
With a band of iron,
for a time of rebirth.”
Daniel spoke softly, saying,
“O king, hear me,
This tree’s about you — a lesson to see.
You’ll lose your kingdom,
like a beast you’ll roam,
Till you know the Most High,
and feel at home.”
Twelve months passed, pride filled my head,
Until
I spoke, “Is this not Babylon I’ve
bred? Look at my kingdom,
the glory I own,
But then I heard a voice from the heavenly throne.”
“Your kingdom’s departed, you’ll eat grass like a cow,
Seven times will pass,
until you know how.
The Most High rules all,
from on high His decree,
He gives power to whom He wants,
let it be.”
So the judgment came,
just as Daniel said,
I lost my crown,
sleeping in a bed.
Living like a beast,
for the world to see,
I looked to the skies,
my heart cried to be free.
At last I awoke,
my sanity restored, I blessed the Most High,
in Him I adored.
“Now I know His ways,
His kingdom won’t fade,
He rules forever; His glory displayed!”
Now I share my story,
a lesson to keep,
That pride leads to downfall,
in humility, we leap.
Worship the Almighty, give honour His due,
For His mercy and grace,
He’s always true!
Heavenly Father,
I come to You just as King Nebuchadnezzar did,
acknowledging that You are the Most High God.
I realize that through Yeshua,
my Saviour, I can find true redemption
and restoration. (amen)
