Two seventeen.
Everybody with common sense
is probably asleep.
Anyway.
Laptop glowing, whole room dark,
Another idea running circles while I'm trying to make it start.
Been saying ‘five more minutes’
for an hour and a half,
Built something, broke something,
fixed it, broke it back.
Don't know if this is genius,
don't know if it's insane,
Don't know if I'm building something or just rearranging pain.
But something wasn't here yesterday
and now it's sitting there— So maybe that's enough
to keep me in this chair.
IT'S 2:17 IN THE MORNING
AND I'M STILL GOING SOMEWHERE!
Don't know where the road ends,
I just know I'm getting there.
Whole world sleeping, I'm still moving through the air— IT'S 2:17 IN
THE MORNING
AND I'M STILL GOING SOMEWHERE!
No map! (no map) No guarantee!
Just another little piece of something only I can see.
2:17— AND I'M STILL GOING SOMEWHERE!
Two eighteen, two nineteen,
time keeps stealing little pieces,
Coffee cold, eyes tired,
brain somehow increasing speed.
One tab turns to seven,
one thought becomes a plan,
One plan becomes ‘What am I actually building,
man?’ Maybe nobody sees it,
maybe nobody should yet,
Half the shit worth doing looks ridiculous unfinished.
I don't need tomorrow to explain tonight to me— Just give me
one more hour and let's see what this could be.
What am I building?
No clue.
Is it working?
Parts of it. Good enough.
Everybody sleeping! (asleep!) I'm still up!
Everybody dreaming!
I'm building mine awake!
Maybe tomorrow
this whole thing falls apart— BUT TONIGHT IT EXISTS
BECAUSE I STARTED!
IT'S 2:17 IN THE MORNING
AND I'M STILL GOING SOMEWHERE!
Deep bass shaking everything,
city night lights everywhere.
Don't need to see the finish,
don't need anybody there— IT'S 2:17 IN THE MORNING AND I'M STILL
GOING SOMEWHERE! Wrong turns!
Long nights! Tiny wins under fluorescent lights!
Don't know what I'm building— BUT THERE'S MORE HERE THAN LAST NIGHT!
2:17 IN THE MORNING— AND I'M STILL.
GOING. SOMEWHERE!
Two eighteen.
