I came through the doors with my hands already full Ready to
give whatever I could But somewhere along the way I forgot That
even sheep need someone to look after them
I’ve learned how to answer,
“I’m doing okay” I’ve learned how to smile when I’m not
I’ve learned how to keep giving what I have Even when I
don’t have much left to give
I’ve been so busy serving I forgot that I could rest
I’ve been trying to carry everything When I only needed to be
held
I’m the sheep who needs a Shepherd
I’m the weary one who needs to rest I’m the one who’s
always pouring Who needs somebody to pour into me I don’t need
another burden I don’t need another thing to do Tonight I need
the Shepherd Who knows me and still calls me His I’m the
sheep who needs a Shepherd And Jesus,
I need You
Sunday morning I didn’t hear You
Through the ringing in my ears
Someone needed something from me And I couldn’t even hear
And I carried all the guilt
Like I chose to let them down
But You knew what I was fighting Before anyone looked around You
know when I want to serve And my body says I can’t
You know the difference between surrender And simply having reached my limit
So maybe being faithful
Doesn’t always mean I give Maybe sometimes following You Means letting myself
be held
I know there are sheep who need me I know there’s work
that needs to be done
But I cannot pour forever
From an empty cup
So lead me beside still waters Make me lie down and rest
Remind me I’m Your daughter
Before I’m anything else I don’t have to earn Your attention
I don’t have to prove I’m strong The Shepherd doesn’t love His
sheep Because they keep the whole flock moving along He loves them
because they’re His I’m the sheep who needs a Shepherd
I’m the one who needs Your care
If all I can do tonight is follow Will You meet me
there?
I’m the sheep who needs a Shepherd
And I’m finally letting myself rest
I don’t have to keep pretending That giving more means giving my
best I don’t need another burden I don’t need another thing to
prove Tonight I need the Shepherd
And Jesus, I need You When I can’t hear When I can’t
serve When my body says,
“not today” I’m still Your sheep I’m still Your child And You
don’t turn me away I’m the sheep who needs a Shepherd
And You are the Shepherd I need
So tonight, I won’t be the helper
I won’t be the strong one
I won’t be the one who always gives
Tonight I’ll just be the sheep And let my Shepherd
Carry me
