(shhh) I ordered a glass of tap water to the table Said we
should call it a night
Up on this rooftop under the heavy cable With one speaker sputtering
light
(yeah) Out here under the street-corner grandeur Watching the blackout cake candle
burn low
No power in the city but we got the hum Just one
working speaker to let it all flow (mhmmm)
We watched the neighborhood go dark below us Just the flicker on
the frosting left to show us
Your silhouette against the concrete frame Nothing left to lose and nothing
to claim (nothin' at all)
But the glass tipped over,
the water ran dry And a spark caught the dry wooden bench
on the fly
Suddenly the dark is a roaring bright red No more calling it
a night, we're running instead
Running through the red light
(out into the dark) Just a candle left to burn
