Beneath the Last Note

I kept looking backward trying to finish the page,

Like yesterday owed me an answer someday.

Wanted every goodbye explained to my face— Till tomorrow kicked the door

down and took its place. (ahhhh)

I DON’T NEED THE ENDING— I GOT A NEW BEGINNING!

(BEGIN AGAIN!) Don't need every reason,

don't need every why,

Some doors gotta close before another opens wide.

Spent too damn long asking how it should've been— I DON'T NEED

THE ENDING, I'M ALREADY BEGINNING!

I wanted explanations

from people already gone,

Wanted broken conversations rewritten strong.

Kept replaying every word,

deciding who was wrong,

While the next damn chapter

waited with the lights turned on.

Maybe closure's overrated, answers come late,

Some things disappear without cleaning the slate.

You can spend ten years interrogating fate,

Or turn around today and build something great.

Every scar ain't asking to become understood,

Every loss doesn't secretly happen for good.

Sometimes shit falls apart exactly like it could— Then you make something

better from whatever still stood.

(Need an answer?) Not now.

(Need goodbye?) Somehow. (Need the ending?)

I need what's next.

New road, new room,

new name on the door,

New reasons to wake I didn't have before.

Funny how losing what I begged life for Made space for something

I couldn't ignore. Don't need revenge,

don't need things made right,

Don't need yesterday showing up dressed polite.

It had its turn,

had its day, had its night— Now tomorrow's outside and I'm catching

that ride. Keep the old ending,

I'm changing the lens,

Some stories don't finish,

they twist and they bend.

Maybe that's better than tying every end— 'Cause every goodbye leaves room

to begin.

I thought moving on meant understanding the past.
