I’m not erasing the past

I’m learning how to write beyond it (ahhh)

There were seasons when I whispered

So nobody would disagree

I made myself a little smaller

Trying to become what others needed me to be But I’ve learned

that kindness doesn’t mean

I have to disappear

And peace does not require me To surrender every boundary out of

fear

I can honor where I’ve been

Without living there again

My next chapter is louder

Not because I have to shout

But because I know my value

And I’m done leaving myself out My next chapter is brighter

I’m bringing everything I learned

I am wiser, I am stronger And there are pages left to

turn

That doesn’t look the same

I can protect my peace I can speak my truth

I can become the person

I kept waiting for in youth

Every voice deserves a place

We can honor our beginnings Without being held in place

Bring the wisdom that we earned

We are growing, we are learning
