    Debt Collector Luck

    Echo Frame

Flat tire Monday, Tuesday got worse,

Wednesday found another damn hole in my purse.

Thursday I laughed, said "what's next,

universe?" Friday came around like— "You really wanna learn?" (Oh no!)

    Oh yes.

    LUCK OWES ME MONEY!

(PAY HIM!) Been collecting my debt since twenty-something!

(PAY HIM!) If fortune's a wheel,

    somebody spun mine funny,

I've paid my dues— NOW LUCK OWES ME MONEY!

Interest too! (WITH INTEREST!) Late fees?

    (EVERY CENT!) See? They understand.

I've had rain when the forecast said sun,

    Got to the finish line,

    somebody moved it for fun.

Bought two tickets, somehow lost number one,

    If there's ten wrong doors,

guess which one I'll pick from.

But here's where the story gets stupidly good,

I kept showing up when nobody would.

Bad luck hit hard like it knew that it could,

Till I started hitting back like bad luck should.

    Now every setback's another receipt,

Every missed chance gets added to fees.

Universe, baby, I'm keeping the sheets— You ran up a tab and

    it's payable to me.

    (PAY UP!)

Bad year? (CHARGE IT!) Wrong turn?

(CHARGE IT!) Heartbreak? (CHARGE IT!) Another disaster?

    (ADD INTEREST!)

That's expensive. LUCK OWES ME MONEY!

(PAY HIM!) I've been broke on good fortune but rich in something!

(WHAT?) Still standing here and I find that funny—

    Keep the sympathy,

    LUCK OWES ME MONEY!

I want back every night that went sideways quick,

Every "almost there" and every "not quite yet." Every elevator closing while

    I'm running to it,

Every plan that looked easy then somehow went to shit.

    Put it on my statement,

    itemize pain, Compound every loss,

every delay. I don't want revenge,

I just want what remains— A ridiculous amount of exceptionally good days.

    And maybe that's dumb,

    but I'm betting it all,

'Cause probability's gotta return my call.

    You can't flip heads forever,

eventually tails falls— And if mathematics disagrees,

    I'm suing them all.

    (GOOD LUCK!)

    Don't say that.

    Who's got my money?

(LUCK!) Who's overdue? (LUCK!) Who's been hiding?

    (LUCK!) Somebody call collections.

    LUCK OWES ME MONEY!

    (PAY

HIM!) Every bad break finally owes me something!

    (PAY

    HIM!) I'm still right here,

    still loud, still running,

    So open that vault—

    LUCK OWES ME MONEY!

Cash or check? (BOTH!) Good year?

    (TEN!) Starting when?

    (RIGHT NOW!)

    Finally.

    Keep the change.
