Twenty-six years since this all began,
And somehow you still put up with this man,
Twenty-one married, three beautiful kids,
And a million crazy things we did.
You work so hard,
you give your all,
You’re always there
whenever we call, You put us first,
that’s just what you do,
And somehow keep this crazy family glued.
You hold us all together,
But you keep me laughing too,
Twenty-six years of carrying on,
And I’m still carrying on with you.
Three beautiful kids, a life of our own,
Wherever we wander,
you’re always my home.
Here’s to forty-five, Kylie,
I’d do it all again with you.
We’ve packed the car
and hit the road,
Usually with way too much of a load,
South Australia, Queensland too,
Victoria and Tassie
— our favourite view.
Camping nights and places we’ve been,
Then I said, “Let’s build a caravan again.”
You survived the screws,
the mess and my plans,
And somehow you’re still holding my hand.
Middle of the day,
sitting in the car,
Everything normal… well, normal for us so far,
Then somehow there was a sesame seed,
One of those memories we’ll never need.
Then out of nowhere — “CHANNEL
7!” Why you yelled it,
I’ll never know.
Breaching whales came into it somewhere,
Twenty-six years… don’t even go there.
“That’s not tomato sauce.” Yeah,
we’ll leave that one alone.
Nobody else needs to understand,
These stupid jokes are part of our home.
You hold us all together,
But you keep me laughing too,
Twenty-six years of carrying on,
And I’m still carrying on with you.
Three beautiful kids between us,
And what a bloody ride,
Twenty-one years as husband and wife,
And you’re still here
by my side.
The years have gone too bloody fast,
But we’ve made one hell of a past,
And there’s still so much left to do,
More roads and adventures,
me and you. More camping underneath the stars,
More Tassie trips and overloaded cars,
And when we’re old and grey
someday,
We’ll probably still carry
on this way.
So here’s to forty-five,
Kylie, To the woman I love and my best mate too,
For everything you give this family,
And every crazy thing we do.
Twenty-six years together,
And I’d still choose you
every time. More laughs,
more roads, more memories…
“CHANNEL
7!” …Yeah. You’ll always be mine.
