There once was a girl named Daylyn,
she’s nine, She’s funny and awesome and always kind.
But every year when her birthday comes near,
She knows what’s coming… and she starts to fear!
A present arrives with a big shiny bow,
She opens it slowly… then screams,
“OH NO!” She looks at the gift and starts to complain,
“NOT BANANAS AGAIN?! ARE YOU INSANE?!” (hahaha)
Christmas rolls around, what could it be?
A brand-new toy? A puppy?
A TV? She shakes that present with a hopeful little grin…
Then sees yellow fruit and says,
“YOU DID IT AGAIN!” OH DAYLYN,
DAYLYN, QUEEN OF THE BANANA!
Every birthday I bring you a banana!
Christmas comes, and what do you know?
Another banana underneath the bow!
You don’t want Barbies,
you don’t want a llama,
You just want me to STOP WITH THE BANANA!
But every single year,
like a ridiculous tradition,
I give you fruit… and you give me THE DEATH STARE!
Some kids get money,
some kids get toys,
Some kids get puppies that make lots of noise.
Daylyn gets bananas, wrapped up with care,
And probably thinks, “Why does she even CARE?!” I could buy you
candy, I could buy you cake,
I could buy you something you actually LIKE to take… But then
I see bananas
sitting at the store,
And I think, “Yep!
She needs about FOUR!”
You
open the box and look at me slow,
Your eyebrows go up and your mouth goes,
“Whoa…” You say, “Seriously?
AGAIN?!” with a groan,
While I’m laughing so hard I can barely stand up straight! (hahaha)
One banana… “NOOOOO!” Two bananas… “WHY?!”
A WHOLE BUNCH OF BANANAS?!
“THIS IS CHILD ABUSE!” (hahaha)
And then one day when Daylyn is grown,
She’ll have a house and a fridge of her own.
She’ll open the door and what will she see?
A banana sitting there…
WAITING FROM ME.
OH DAYLYN, DAYLYN, IT’S YOUR SPECIAL DAY!
Here comes your banana — HIP HIP HOORAY!
Birthday? BANANA! Christmas? BANANA!
Tuesday? BANANA! JUST BECAUSE I CAN!
You may roll your eyes,
You may say, “I’M DONE!”
But deep down inside… You know it’s kinda fun!
So here’s to Daylyn,
the banana queen, The funniest nine-year-old you’ve ever seen!
And no matter how much you yell,
“NO MORE!”… I’LL BE BACK NEXT YEAR
WITH BANANAS GALORE! BANANA!
BANANA! BANANA! DAYLYN!!!
