(hm-mmmm,
hm-mmmm)
The younger ones whisper of treaties and gold They say that the
deep-mountain grudges are old They look at our scars and the armor
we wear And wonder what shadow still lingers in there But we
carved the runes into pillars of stone We remember the blood in
the dark of our home A devil came crawling with parchment in
hand To offer us glory,
to give back our land With honeyed sweet words and a promise
of peace If we would but sign and our hatred release But
we know the lie in the contract they bring A promise is
chains under court of the king We spat on his silver,
we laughed at his crown (hahahahaha)
For the stone still remembers!
The mountain does know!
No devils shall tread where the deep rivers flow!
We bury their bargains beneath our cold steel To no master of
lies shall our iron knees kneel!
Our children may mock us for keeping the fires And testing the
steel to the tune of the choirs They ask why we teach
them the names of the dead And point to the valleys where
rivers ran red We answer: the darkness is waiting outside When the
horns sound again, there is nowhere to hide (hoh!
hah! hoh!) For the stone still remembers!
The mountain does know!
No devils shall tread where the deep rivers flow!
We bury their bargains beneath our cold steel To no master of
lies shall our iron knees kneel!
Let the world turn to dust,
let the kingdoms go cold We stand by the ancient,
we die by the old
(stone... remembers...)
