Deep in meditation, the mountain stands still
While Kama aims his arrow
of desire and will
With a bow of sweet sugarcane,
the flower-shaft flies
Seeking to wake passion
in the great god's eyes
Har Har
Mahadev, the cosmic fire burns (burns!) Kama turns to ash as the
great wheel turns
The third eye opens,
a blinding white light
Divine wrath consuming the lord of delight
Parvati pleads, with tears in her eyes 'Let love return,
or the whole universe dies'
Shiva looks down, his anger now clear
He grants the rebirth,
casting out all their fear
Both desire and destruction,
they move in the dance
Love is reborn
in a bodiless glance
Anger and mercy, in balance they stand
Held in the palm
of the Great Lord's hand
Shiva the merciful,
Shiva the flame (Mahadev,
Mahadev) We bow to your power,
we chant your holy name
