I endured my whole life,
didn’t know if I’d make it through,
Now I see it with clear eyes,
got a different point of view.
Friends and family painted pictures,
made me question what was true,
Now they crawling back with sorry,
but that version of me grew.
I gave my heart to everybody,
never asked for nothing back,
Carried weight that wasn’t mine while I was falling through the cracks.
Thought that loyalty was love and sacrifice was what you proved,
Till I learned you lose yourself when everybody feeds on you.
Father, mother, sister too,
I would’ve crossed the earth,
Never questioned what it cost because I didn’t know my worth.
Now I know familiar faces still can leave the deepest scars,
And being blood don’t mean you know me just because you know
my past.
Never betraying
myself again,
Not for blood, not for love,
not a friend.
I gave light when everybody else went dark,
Now I’m keeping some fire in my heart.
You had chances, you had time,
You had every open door into my mind.
Now my peace became a price you can’t afford,
I don’t hate you,
I just don’t live there anymore.
Still strange when old memories find their way inside,
Hits different when your own eyes finally recognize the lies.
I had everybody’s back,
gave my energy away,
Now I know why I was hunted—I had something they could drain.
Time’s up, I gave you chances just to sit with me and
speak, But accountability was somehow asking way too deep.
Then you wonder why your children barely tell you how they feel,
When emotions became weakness and the silence became real.
Mother felt like my best friend,
thought my secrets stayed with her,
Till private words became a weapon when the arguments occurred.
Father, I had things to tell you but I swallowed them in
shame, Needed someone there beside me,
couldn’t even say the name.
That changed how I saw love,
had me questioning my worth,
But people bleed what they don’t heal and pass the pain along
through birth. I can understand the reason without saying it was right,
I can finally choose myself without another useless fight.
I don’t need revenge,
I need peace. I don’t need approval,
I need me. Maybe closure never comes from those who caused the
war. You had access to my heart.
Not anymore.
My peace became a treasure— And you can’t afford it anymore.
