Stars Who Stayed

I used to think I walked alone,

Just me and shadows I called my own.

But looking back through years gone by,

I see a different kind of sky.

There’s a teacher who believed in me,

A stranger who smiled unexpectedly.

A friend who stayed when I fell apart,

And stitched some light back into my heart.

I didn’t know it then,

But I was never on my own.

You are constellations in my sky,

Every name a spark that taught me how to fly.

Some stayed long, some passed right through,

But every light became a part of you.

You shaped the dark so I could see,

You turned the night into something that held me.

And now I know,

wherever I go, I carry all the stars I’ve known.

There’s a pet curled up in memory,

A soft warm weight that still lives in me.

There’s laughter echoing down the halls,

There’s comfort hidden in old calls.

There’s the kid who shared their lunch with me,

The one who said,

“You’re enough, you’ll see.” There’s the ones who never knew my name,

But still helped me feel less the same.

Every moment left a trace,

Every soul a saving grace.

Even pain can leave a light,

Even loss can teach you sight.

Even endings, even goodbye,

Can become a reason why.

Look up…

They’re still there.

Not gone.

Just distant light.

You are constellations in my sky,

Every soul a reason I survived.

And when I feel alone at night,

I trace your names across the light.
