More Than a Character

Sometimes people come into your life And you don’t know how much

they will mean

A friendship grows between the little moments More than what anybody sees

And ain't no things have changed between us two Maybe things aren't

what they were

But I hope you know the friendship I have Was never only

about her

I didn’t choose you for a role I didn’t choose you for

a part

The character was just a reason For paths to cross and start

You’re more than just a character to me More than someone playing

a part

I like you for the person that you are For the kindness

in your heart

I cherish every conversation,

every laugh and memory

And just because you played a character That's not why you're important

to me

I know that pasts can make things complicated And sometimes people choose

different roads But friendships shouldn’t disappear

Just because a chapter closed

I’m not asking you to change a thing Or asking you to

choose a side

I just want you to know

that I appreciate

The friend I’ve had along the ride

You could’ve never played that role And you'd still be a genuinely

cool guy (to me)
