I learned to smile when I wanted to cry,
Say “I’m okay” and just let it slide,
I got pretty good at hiding the cracks,
At carrying things I never gave back.
Some nights feel longer than they should,
Some
days I’m not sure that I could Keep pretending that I’m doing
fine, When there’s so much going on in my mind.
But somewhere underneath all the noise,
There’s still a little piece of my voice,
Saying, “Hold on, just make it through,
There’s still a life waiting for you.” So I’m still here,
even when it hurts,
Still standing after everything got worse,
I’ve been lost, I’ve been scared,
I’ve felt like nobody cared,
But somehow I’m still breathing through the tears.
Maybe I don’t have to know where I’m going,
Maybe it’s enough that I keep going,
I don’t have all the answers yet,
But I’m still here,
And I’m not done yet.
I’ve got memories I wish I could erase,
And little reminders I can’t replace,
People I miss and things I regret,
Moments I wish I could somehow forget.
But I’ve also got reasons to stay,
Even if I can’t see them every day,
A laugh, a song,
a familiar face, A dog waiting for me
in my favourite place.
Maybe healing isn’t a straight line,
Maybe falling apart sometimes is fine,
Maybe tomorrow won’t feel this heavy,
Maybe I’ll wake up a little more ready.
And if I lose my way again,
I’ll remember where I’ve already been,
I’ve made it through every yesterday,
So I’ll take tomorrow one step at a time.
I’m still here,
even when it hurts,
Still standing after everything got worse,
I’ve been lost, I’ve been scared,
But there are people who care,
And maybe that’s enough to get me through the tears.
I don’t have to have it figured out,
I can take my time and work it out,
I don’t know what comes next,
But I’m still here,
And I’m not done yet.
So if tomorrow feels a little too hard,
I’ll take it slowly,
I won’t run too far.
I’ll breathe, I’ll stay,
And face another day.
I’m still here. And for tonight… That’s enough.
