(one, two, three, four)
There’s a high wooden fence standing tall in the sun
And two busy houses where the mornings begun (hello there!) I made
some chocolate chip cookies today So I reached through the pine slats
to send them your way
Well I caught that warm plate with a smile and a nod
Then I went to my kitchen
to bake on the spot
I pulled out a sourdough loaf golden brown
And passed it right back to the best side of town
Because good things taste better when you share them
Yeah, good things taste sweeter when we care to pair them (mm-hmm)
A little bite of kindness passed across the line Over the wooden
fence, we're doing just fine
Then came the autumn,
the soup and the pie (so warm!) With some cold lemonade as
the summer rolled by Now we don't even wait for a plate
or a reason We’re trading sweet recipes through every season
We finally took the whole barrier down Put a big wooden table
right on the ground (come on in!) Both of our families,
neighbors and friends Where the yard begins
and the laughter never ends
Because good things taste better when you share them Yeah,
good things taste sweeter when we care to pair them (that's right!)
A little bite of kindness passed across the line Now we're eating
together, and we're doing just fine
Pass the bread, pass the pie (yum-mm!) Underneath
this big blue sky Yeah,
good things taste better
When we do it together (hahaha)
