Lace up my shoes,
step onto the mat,
Time to get serious,
no turning back. He's in my corner,
telling me I can,
Helping me get better,
helping me stand. When I doubt myself,
he knows what to say,
Gives me a compliment and brightens my day.
On the mat, he's helping me fight,
Making sure I give it everything tonight.
On the mat, we're working hard,
Giving everything we've got.
He's pushing me forward when I think I can't,
Helping me become stronger than I thought.
But when we're off the mat,
that's a different story,
We're messing with each other and laughing like crazy.
He'll tease me, I'll tease him back,
That's just how our friendship works like that.
Yeah,
step off the mat,
now the game has changed,
All that serious wrestling stuff gets rearranged.
He says something funny,
I hit him with a joke,
Five minutes later we're both laughing at the same thing we spoke.
He'll compliment me, say I'm doing alright,
Then turn around and mess with me all night.
That's my friend, yeah,
that's how we roll,
Wrestling builds the strength,
friendship builds the soul.
Some friends just show up,
some friends stay near,
Some help you through the hard days and the fear.
He's one of those people
I know I can trust,
On the mat, in the gym,
or wherever we must.
On the mat, we're giving our best,
Working and fighting through every test.
He helps me grow,
he tells me I'm strong,
Reminds me I can keep pushing on.
Then off the mat,
we're back at it again,
Messing with each other like best friends.
From wrestling practice to laughing all day,
That's the kind of friendship I hope never fades.
Mat under our feet,
friends by our side,
Work hard, laugh harder,
that's the ride. He helps me out,
I help him too,
That's what real friends are supposed to do.
(yeah, real friends)
