There was one who slowly faded
no goodbye no final scene
Just a thousand little moments turning into in between
There was one who left an argument with words we couldn’t take
back
And one i walked away from
cause i wasn’t ready for that
I was scared i’d hurt somebody
while i was trying to heal myself
So i chose to let him go instead of losing who i
was
And i wondered if i was broken if love just wasn’t meant
for me
If every almost every ending
was all i’d ever get to see
But maybe every road led here every goodbye every tear
Every person i couldn’t keep was bringing me
a little nearer
To the life i couldn’t see waiting somewhere ahead of me
I thought they were the endings but they were only chapters here
Maybe every road i walked was leading me here
One took me to a dance with intentions i cant share
And when i didn’t give him what he wanted suddenly he wasn’t
there
And another one was my best friend for years,
and maybe thats what hurt the most
We knew each others every version
but still couldn’t find the road
We kept reaching for an answer
neither one of us could give
So i stopped expecting someone to walk in and make things right
I just wanted one good memory
one good person one good night
Then charlotte said jacob knows a guy and i got worried
Because i wasn’t looking
for a love story that night
Just somebody to go to prom with just somebody who felt right
February 24th
a message on my phone
I was told he thought i was pretty and somehow we weren’t
strangers long
Under stadium lights was the first time i saw him standing there
Then at singing in the rain and suddenly he kept showing up
everywhere
His prom, my prom,
two people, pretending this was just a date
Until 3 in the morning when everything changed
Maybe every road led here
every wrong turn every tear
Every person who couldn’t love me was teaching me what love should
really be
Not perfect not a fairytale not something i could plan
He’d been hurt before me i had my own scars too
Neither of us knew what this was going to turn into
But somehow every road i walked was leading me to you
A first kiss beneath the noise of a graduation night
And suddenly all those years didn’t feel like a waste of time
The girl who thought she had to run when she was scared
she’d cause someone pain
Found somebody who didn’t ask her to be anything but herself
So maybe every road led here every heartbreak every fear
Every version of myself that i thought i’d have to leave behind
Was still a part of getting here
I don’t know what tomorrow holds and neither does he
He’s got five years ahead of him i’ve got my own dream
waiting for me
He’s got a road to,
walk i’ve got a sky to chase
Two different futures starting from the same place
And maybe we’ll change maybe life will move more fast
Maybe someday we’ll look back and wonder how it went so fast
But for now i wear you t-shirt to bed and your hat
to the fair
And love every second i’m with you and when you run your
hand through my hair
Right now we’re here and thats enough Because every road i walked
Every door that closed
Every person i lost
Every place i had to grow
Every
road led here
