My name is Munotida-ishe,
a son of home living far from home.
My body is abroad,
but my spirit still sleeps
on Zimbabwean soil.
Every morning I wake up,
but some mornings my heart does not.
My job has become a stone on my shoulders,
I carry it without knowing
where it is taking me.
My hands keep working,
but my heart is still waiting.
I watch the sun rise,
while another night lives inside me.
I come back tired,
then open my phone just to hear my people laugh.
My mother’s voice brings me back to life,
my father’s voice reminds me who I am.
My friends say, “Brother,
stay strong,” and for a moment I remember I am not lost.
Munotida, home still remembers you,
your door has never been closed.
Distance did not remove your place,
and time did not erase your name.
We miss you quietly,
we wait for you without pressure.
Keep walking,
even when the road refuses to tell you where it ends.
One day I will come back,
Zimbabwe, not as the man who left feeling lost.
I will come back carrying every scar,
but knowing exactly who I am.
I never left you in my heart.
You only went away to find your road.
Munotida-ishe, son of home,
your heart is still where you belong.
Sometimes I watch others moving forward,
while I am still wrestling with my own life.
Some have bought their houses,
some are raising families now.
I am still counting the days,
still sending money back home.
Still carrying the people I love,
even when I am left with almost nothing.
I cannot return with empty hands,
not because home would reject me,
but because my people look at me
like I am one of their last remaining lights.
Will I ever find myself?
You will.
Will I come home?
You will.
Will things get better?
One day.
But when?
One day I will come back,
Zimbabwe, with a heart that has found its light again.
I will come back after meeting
myself,
knowing this road did not destroy me.
I am
tired, but I am not finished.
You were wounded,
but you stayed standing.
Munotida-ishe, keep walking, home is still calling your name.
Zimbabwe…
I am far away.
But I am not lost.
I am only finding
my way back home.
