(yee-haw) (woo) Born in ’56 down Wallace way,
August fifteenth was a mighty fine day.
Pender High, James Sprunt,
then Uncle Sam called,
Eddie packed his bags and he gave it his all.
He served his country,
came home again, With a story for strangers and a joke for
his friends. Seventy years later,
one thing’s still true— The Lord made one Eddie,
and one was enough to do!
Happy birthday, Brother Eddie,
seventy years young, Still praising the Lord with a joke on his
tongue. Army vet, Snoopy fan,
pickleball king, Give that man a paddle and he’ll challenge anything.
From Wallace to Southport,
everybody knows— Where Eddie shows up,
a good story follows.
So praise the Lord and pass that birthday cake,
Eddie’s seventy years young—and he still won’t take a break!
Boiling Spring Lakes is where he hangs his hat,
John Deere grass cutting—you can’t argue with that.
Daddy to Mike and Katie,
and family through and through,
If somebody needs Eddie,
he knows what to do.
But hand him a paddle and clear out the court,
Suddenly church fellowship turns competitive sport.
He’ll smile real sweet,
say, “God bless you,
friend,” Then drop one by the kitchen line and do it again.
PREACHER: Now church,
Brother Eddie believes in forgiveness… AMEN!
PREACHER: He believes in loving thy neighbor… AMEN!
PREACHER: But if that neighbor steps onto a pickleball court— OH LORD!
PREACHER: All bets are off!
He’ll dink to the left!
He’ll dink to the right!
He’ll chase that little plastic ball half the night!
And if Snoopy and Woodstock ever need a third… EDDIE: Just give
me the word!
Happy birthday, Brother Eddie,
seventy years strong, Still loving his family,
still singing God’s song.
Army vet, Snoopy fan,
with that Carolina grin,
And tomorrow morning he’ll be ready to do it all again.
So raise up your Cheerwine,
let the whole room say: “Thank God for Eddie on his seventieth
birthday!” From Wallace to Heaven,
when they call that roll someday— They’ll hear Eddie coming from a
mile away!
PREACHER: Seventy years, Brother Eddie… SEVENTY YEARS!
PREACHER: Think he’s slowing down?
NO SIR! PREACHER: Think he’s giving up pickleball?
NO SIR! PREACHER: Think he wants another piece of cake?
EDDIE: Now you’re preachin’!
ALL: 🎵 Happy birthday,
Brother Eddddddie! 🎵
