(hmmmmm) I found it in the cedar chest
Hanging on
a broken wire
Still smells of pipe tobacco smoke
And wood ash
from the fire
I pulled the wool over my head
And let the sleeves
just drape
It wears the shape of all you were
Before
you had to fade
(ahhhh) And it’s a worn-out stitch and a faded thread But it
keeps
away the cold
Like you are holding me again Instead of just
a memory I hold
I sit here in the kitchen light
With coffee
growing cold
Just wrapped up in the only piece
Of you
that I can hold
Just a memory I hold (hmmmmm)
