(tick tock tick tock)
(hey! ho! let's go!)
I texted Monday, “Can we talk?” It left me standing on the
clock I tried to call,
it sent me straight To voicemail labeled “Suffer now” Sunday evening felt
so sweet Then dread put concrete on my feet My work clothes
stared across the room Like officers serving a warrant (run!)
Monday has me blocked again It stole the weekend from my hands
I sent a heart,
it sent demands And scheduled meetings without plans Monday has me blocked
again But somehow knows exactly where I am It finds me hiding
in my bed And drags me toward the coffee stand
My alarm screamed at six-oh-five (wake up!) I negotiated for my life
It offered nine additional minutes Then attacked me nine minutes later Traffic
formed a metal snake Everybody made the same mistake We’re driving toward
fluorescent lights To ask each other how the weekend was (ugh!)
Tuesday is Monday wearing glasses Wednesday is Monday with false hope Thursday
whispers, “You can make it” Friday cuts the office rope (freedom!)
Monday has me blocked again But Friday keeps
me
as a friend One day I’ll build a four-day week And Monday
won’t exist for me
Calendar invitation accepted automatically.
(shut it down!)
