The city’s loud
until it isn’t.
Windows dim.
One by one, the voices disappear.
It’s only me… and the streetlights.
Nobody asks
where I’m going.
Nobody waits
for me tonight.
The night has never needed
an explanation. Neither do I.
Maybe
I’ve been listening
to everyone
except myself.
Streetlights… they never rushed me.
They never told me who to be.
They only stayed until I found the quiet voice inside of me.
Streetlights… they never left me.
Even when I couldn’t see.
Sometimes the only way back home is remembering who I used to
be.
Tomorrow
will be loud again.
The pressure. The noise.
The endless race.
But tonight… none of it
can find me here.
Maybe peace was never
a place. Maybe
it was always waiting inside of me.
Streetlights… they never rushed me.
They never told me who to be.
They only stayed until I found the quiet voice inside of me.
Streetlights… they never saved me.
They just stayed long enough
for me
to save
myself.
When morning
comes, the lights
will disappear. But I’ll remember this quiet road… every time the world
gets loud again.
