Front Porch Evening

Got a little house at the edge of town,

Paint's peeling off, but it ain't falling down,

Got an old Ford sitting in the drive,

She don't look like much,

but she still runs fine.

Got a couple dollars in my pocket today,

Enough for some gas and a beer on the way,

Got a good dog sleeping underneath my feet,

And a woman who still thinks I'm pretty sweet.

I ain't rich, but I'm lucky,

Ain't got a lot,

but I've got enough,

Got a roof over my head,

A little love in my bed,

And two strong hands when the going gets tough.

Yeah, the good Lord's been good to me,

More than I ever thought He'd be,

I ain't driving no Cadillac,

But I got no reason to look back.

I ain't rich...

But I'm lucky.

Friday night, we head down Main Street,

There's a little bar where everybody meets,

Old George is playing on the jukebox again,

And everybody knows everybody's friends.

She puts her hand in mine and says,

“Boy, you ain't changed a bit,” I said,

“Well, neither have you,” And she gives me that little grin.

I've seen men chase money

'Til they can't sleep at night,

I've seen folks lose everything Trying to make their lives look right.

Give me a front porch,

A sunset sky,

Her sitting beside me,

And I'll tell you why...

I ain't rich, but I'm lucky,

Ain't got a lot,

but I've got enough,

A little love in my bed,
