I can still smell the smoke… Even after the fire died.
Something inside me Never survived.
I watched the
skyline turn to black,
Everything I loved was burning in the back.
I tried to run,
I tried to breathe,
But every step just followed me.
There was a time I called this home,
Now every room feels like a tomb.
The photographs are turning grey,
But I still hear you when I
look away.
And I can’t wash it
out,
Can’t bury what I’ve seen.
The fire may be gone… But it’s still inside of me.
I’ve got ashes in my veins,
Fire
underneath the pain. Every memory leaves a scar,
Every ghost
knows where you are.
I tried to let you fade away,
But some things never lose their flame.
So I’ll carry what remains Like ashes in my veins.
I learned to smile with broken teeth,
Hide the war underneath my skin.
Everyone keeps asking if I’m fine,
While something darker eats me alive.
I built a fortress out of fear,
Kept every monster trapped in here.
But every wall eventually cracks,
And everything comes flooding back.
I can’t wash
it out,
Can’t bury what I’ve seen.
The fire may be gone… But it’s still inside of me.
I’ve got ashes in my veins,
Fire underneath the pain.
Every memory leaves a scar,
Every ghost knows where you are.
I tried to let you fade
away,
But some things never lose their flame.
So I’ll carry what remains Like ashes in my veins.
If I could go back… Would I change a thing?
Would I save myself Or let the fire begin?
Maybe the ashes Are all I
have left.
Maybe the burning Is what keeps me breathing.
BURN
IT DOWN!
LET IT
DIE! EVERY
LIE! EVERY SCAR! I’VE GOT ASHES— IN MY VEINS!
I’ve got ashes in my veins,
Fire underneath the
pain.
Every memory leaves a scar,
But I won’t let it take my name.
I watched
everything disappear, I felt the flames consume my fear.
And if this is what’s left of me… I’ll become something you
can’t destroy.
The fire is gone…
But
the ashes remain.
