We remember when you first arrived,
New uniforms in place.
Some walked through with confidence,
Some fear upon their face.
You searched for unfamiliar rooms,
And tried to learn each name.
The school seemed huge around you,
And nothing felt the same.
You started out in Year 7,
The youngest in the school.
You learned the daily routines,
Each corridor and rule.
New subjects and new teachers,
New friendships growing too.
And slowly those enormous halls Became familiar to you.
We watched you grow through Year 8,
And find where you belonged.
You learned to trust your judgement,
And recognise your strengths.
There were laughs across the classrooms,
And challenges to face.
With every passing school day,
You made this place your place.
Then Year 9 brought decisions,
And choices you would make.
You thought about your futures,
And paths that you might take.
You chose your GCSE subjects,
Though some felt hard to choose.
Each choice became a stepping stone Towards the life you’d pursue.
We watched you enter Year 10,
With coursework and demands.
The future felt much closer,
With deadlines and new plans.
Some lessons left you confident,
Some tested what you knew.
But even through the difficult days,
We saw you fighting through.
Now you stand in Year 11,
The oldest here at last.
You look upon the younger years And recognise your past.
The pupils once unsure and small Have found their place and voice.
You’re ready now to leave these halls And make your own next
choice.
We know the GCSE months Have asked so much of you.
Revision, tests and pressure,
And worries carried through.
There may have been some moments When you wanted to give in.
But every time you carried on Was already its own win.
We couldn’t promise easy days,
Or answers every time.
Our job was not to walk for you,
But help you learn to climb.
Sometimes we had to challenge you,
Sometimes we offered care.
Sometimes the most important thing Was simply being there.
We’ll remember all the questions,
The laughter and debate.
The mornings you arrived too soon,
The afternoons you stayed too late.
The little classroom moments
You may forget one day
Have formed the memories we will keep Long after you’ve gone away.
We’ll remember your achievements,
Both those the whole school knew
And quiet personal victories That only mattered to you.
The courage to kee
