Now we have left secondary,
The gates are closed behind.
We’re stepping towards the future,
Not knowing what we’ll find.
The mornings feel so different,
No uniforms to wear.
The classrooms carry on without us,
Though our memories remain there.
We used to count the school days,
And wish the weeks away.
Now part of us would give so much To have one more
ordinary day. One more laugh at lunchtime,
One more lesson with our friends.
We never knew those little things Would matter at the end.
We’ve finished all our GCSEs,
The waiting has begun.
We’re thinking of the answers,
And everything we’ve done.
The pressure may be over,
But questions still remain.
We’re waiting for our results
And wondering what comes next again.
Some of us will go to college,
Some will learn a trade.
Some will start apprenticeships,
And follow plans we’ve made.
Some paths may change direction,
And some are still unclear.
But every step beyond the gates Will take us somewhere new this
year.
We may not stay together,
The way we used to do.
Our lives will move in different ways,
And friendships may change too.
But every shared experience,
Each challenge we came through,
Will always be a part of us Wherever life leads to.
We’ll remember all our teachers,
The guidance that they gave.
The moments when they challenged us To try and to be brave.
The kindness and encouragement,
The lessons beyond school,
The people who believed in us And helped us find our way
through. We’ll remember every corridor,
Every classroom, every bell.
The stories that we shared there,
And the ones we’ll never tell.
The nervous Year 7 students We once had used to be,
Became the Year 11 group Who walked away finally.
Now the world is waiting,
With choices still to make.
There may be wrong directions,
And chances we must take.
We may feel unprepared sometimes,
Or frightened by the view.
But everything we’ve learned so far Will help us make it through.
We’re carrying our primary years,
Our secondary years as well.
Every friendship and achievement,
Every story we could tell.
From tiny hands at school gates To standing proud and tall,
The journey may have ended,
But we’ll carry all of it all.
So here begins the next part,
Beyond the final bell.
A future full of questions And stories still to tell.
Though we have left our school days,
One thing will remain: The people we became together Will always share
that name.
We were once a year group,
Walking side by side.
Now we face the future
With hope, courage and pride.
Whatever waits beyond today,
Wherever we may roam,
The memories that brought us here Will always lead us home.
