Once we started secondary,
Everything had changed.
New classrooms and new faces,
Everything felt strange.
Walking through the corridors,
Finding where to go.
Beginning a new chapter,
With so
much left to know.
Once we were in Year 7,
Standing at the start.
Learning new routines And trying to play our part.
New teachers and new lessons,
New friendships coming through.
Slowly finding confidence In everything
we’d do.
Once we were in Year 8,
Finding where we fit.
Feeling more familiar With every little bit.
Laughing through the school days,
Growing side by side.
No longer quite the youngest,
We walked the halls with pride.
Once we were in Year 9,
The younger years had gone.
Choices for the future Were slowly moving on.
Thinking about our subjects,
And who we hoped to be.
Beginning our GCSE journey,
With new responsibility.
Once we were in Year 10,
The future felt more near.
Working through our courses,
Growing every year.
Lessons became important, The pressure started too.
But every test and challenge
Showed what we could do.
Now we are in Year 11,
The highest year at last.
Looking at the younger ones,
Remembering our past. Revision,
tests and lessons, GCSEs ahead.
Holding onto memories Of every word once said.
Now we’re leaving secondary,
The final bell will ring.
One last walk through corridors,
One final song to sing.
Shirts filled up with messages,
Goodbyes we never planned.
Trying to hold the moment As the future takes our hand.
Once we were in secondary,
It feels like yesterday.
We walked through unfamiliar gates,
Unsure of where they’d lead the way.
Now we stand together,
Prepared for something new.
Carrying every memory And every friendship too.
Though our paths may separate,
And life may move us on,
The years we spent together Will never truly be gone.
Whatever waits beyond these gates,
Wherever we may be,
A part of us will always hold Our secondary-school memories.
