We’re standing at the end of primary,
With memories in our hands.
We look back at the younger years We’re starting to understand.
The laughter and the lessons,
The friendships that we made,
Are all a part of who we are And will never fully
fade.
We remember being little,
When everything was new.
Learning through our games and songs,
And finding what to do.
We remember all the stories,
The pictures and the play.
Those moments from our younger years Still stay with us today.
We remember every classroom,
Every teacher, every friend.
Every lesson that we started,
Every challenge to the end.
We remember school-day laughter,
Every trip and sports-day race.
All the ordinary moments That made primary our place.
Now we are in Year 6,
The oldest in the school.
We’ve learned to take responsibility,
And follow every rule.
We help the younger children,
Because we once were small.
It’s strange to think how far we’ve come Since we first walked
through the hall.
We’re finishing our final lessons,
And counting down the days.
We’re holding onto every laugh,
And all our primary ways.
We know the final bell will ring,
And things will have to change.
The place we know so well today Will soon feel far away.
We look towards the new gates,
Not knowing what we’ll find.
New classrooms and new teachers,
And younger years behind.
We hope to make new friendships,
And find where we belong.
We know that we may feel unsure,
But we will still be strong.
We wonder about the corridors,
The lessons and the day.
We wonder if we’ll find each room,
Or sometimes lose our way.
We wonder who will sit with us,
And who our friends will be.
There’s so much waiting up ahead That we cannot yet see.
We know there may be challenges,
And moments when we’re scared.
But everything we’ve learned so far Has helped us be prepared.
We’ll carry all our confidence,
And every lesson through.
We’ll take the strength from primary
Into something new.
We will learn new subjects,
We will meet new friends.
We will start new stories When our primary chapter ends.
We will make new memories,
And find new dreams to chase.
We’ll slowly make secondary Another special place.
We’re standing at the doorway,
Between the old and new.
We’ve looked back at our memories,
And now we’re looking through.
Primary is still with us,
Wherever we may go.
Secondary is waiting now,
With so much left to know.
We’ll carry every classroom,
Every playground, every song.
Every person who has helped us And shown us where we belong.
We may be leaving primary,
But part of it will stay.
It helped us reach this moment,
And prepared us for the way.
So now we face the future,
With courage side by side.
A little nervous, hopeful,
And filled with Year 6 pride.
We’re ready for the next step,
Though we don’t know what we’ll
see. We’re leaving primary behind us,
And walking towards secondary.
