Rain
falls on purple roofs and wet stone,
headlights move across the concrete wall,
a black coat walking on the edge of night,
where empty tram lines catch the heavy mist and distant headlights fade
away. Red windows glow through the heavy dark,
damaged bricks are softened by the stream,
tired faces walking in a quiet dream,
the city is a quiet,
shadowed place.
The city hides beneath her veil. (ohhh)
The city hides beneath her veil.
Abandoned streets where the water pools,
the rain-covered city sleeps tonight,
a soft veil making ancient scars look new,
reflected colored light upon the ground.
The city hides beneath her veil. (ohhh)
The city hides beneath her veil.
She covers every wound but never closes it.
She covers every wound but never closes it.
The city hides beneath her veil. (ohhh)
The city hides beneath her veil.
The rain made
beauty from what it could not repair.
