  • fall of nyerlith

    fall of nyerlith

    Ben Dawson

    (Ohh… ohh…) {Soft lute strumming,

    low light tavern

    ambience}

    High above the waking world,

    where silver towers gleamed

Nyerlith drifted through the clouds like half-forgotten dream

    Arches carved of starlight,

streets of woven spell A city born of magic’s breath,

    no mortal tongue could tell

    The spires sang at morning,

the bells would hum at night

    Leylines bound in harmony,

    the sky itself held tight

The old gods watched in silence,

their hands upon the thread For in that age,

all power flowed from words the ancients said But whispers turned to

    silence

And the currents lost their way…

Oh, Nyerlith, Nyerlith, falling from the sky Your light became a dying

star no prayer could amplify When magic fled the bones of earth

and left the world to grieve

You were the first to break the sky… the last we would

    believe

    The runes began to flicker,

the winds no longer sang The tether snapped in quiet,

without a war or clang No dragonfire or conquest,

no army at the gate Just empty air where power was… and

    slow, unraveling fate

The scholars cried in marble halls,

their ink ran thin with dread The archmages reached for answers in

the words the ancients said But every spell fell lifeless,

every sigil turned to dust For magic was a fading breath… no

    longer bound by trust

    And in that hollow silence

Came the ending of an age…

Oh, Nyerlith, Nyerlith, breaking as you fell

A crown undone by unseen hands,

a slow and silent knell When magic fled the bones of earth

and left the world to bleed You were the first to touch

the ground… and sow the final seed They say the gods had

    turned away

    Or sealed their voices far

That something broke the sacred chain That bound the world to star

From second age to third it turned In ash and shattered light

And those who lived beneath your fall Still dream of you at

    night

    {Slow build} {Soft

    violin, low drum heartbeat}

Now ruins sleep in quiet fields where none recall your name And

children hear the stories but think them only fable flame

Yet buried deep beneath the soil,

your fractured echoes lie A memory of a world that touched the

    endless, open sky

Oh, Nyerlith, Nyerlith, lost to time and air

A ghost that drifts through history no living soul can bear When

magic fled the bones of earth and left the heavens bare

You were the fall that marked the end… and none were left

    to care (Ohh… ohh…)

    The sky

    remembers… though we do not…

    {Soft fading

    lute}
