My mind is running ten directions at the same time
Trying to catch a fleeting thought upon a thin line
I pick up hobbies just to leave them on the dusty shelf
Another hyperfocus battle with my own self
(so fast) I check my phone a hundred times but there is
nothing new Just a compulsive little loop that I am running through
They tell me focus but the static is a heavy wall I
build a tower in my head then watch the pieces fall (down,
down) But then I stop and take a breath to let the
static clear I map the pathways of the noise until the rules
appear
It is a storm inside my brain but I can steer the
wheel Compulsive ADHD waves are not the way I feel (yeah)
I write it down to keep the promise that I made to
me And set some boundaries on the focus so my mind is
free
One step at a time,
I do not have to finish everything Just finding peace inside the
chaos that the mornings bring
(find it now) I learned to ride the wave instead of trying
to make it stop And let the thoughts resolve themselves before they
start to drop
No longer running from the rhythm that is in my chest I
turn the energy to art and let the pressure rest
(rest up)
It is a storm inside my brain but I can steer the
wheel Compulsive ADHD waves are not the way I feel (yeah)
Compulsive mind, but I am learning how to let it breathe (hummmmm)
