Summer air cools down
Long shadows on the ground
Another night we watch the headlamps fade
Under the streetlamps where we stayed
The heat is lingering in the concrete stones
We are together but we walk alone
July is burning out like a dying spark
Left us shivering in the sudden dark
We let the season slip away so fast
Nothing as bright as this was made to last
No more words to speak
The memories grow weak
Just the hum
of the late-night breeze
The summer
night is gone
