(hummmm) (hum-mmm-mmm) Morning dew on the clover leaf
Sipping light, keeping sorrow brief
I reach down where the wild things grow
Bending low in the undertow
One by one, stems begin to part
Gathering petals in the palm of my hand
Holding onto things I don't understand
Sweet wild honey, sweet lavender bloom
I'm keeping some color for my quiet room
Dandelions in the gravel cracks
Hard to save what the garden lacks
But I find grace
in the unkept lawn
Harvesting gold before the heat is gone
Leaving roots so they bloom again
Gathering petals in the palm of my hand
Holding onto things I don't understand
Sweet wild honey, sweet lavender bloom
I'm keeping some color for my quiet room
They fade away so fast,
they
bend
Beauty we can never quite defend
So I hold them close,
I hold them tight
Just a little color...
Before the night... (ahhhh)
